Moscow Airport VIP Transfer — SVO, DME & VKO

April 28, 2026 · 7 min read · FFGR Russia VIP Team

Moscow's three major airports process 100 million passengers per year between them. For the fraction of that number who travel in private or business class — or by private jet — the difference between a well-executed ground transfer and a poorly organised one is measured not in comfort but in time, discretion, and the condition in which you arrive at your destination. FFGR Russia operates across all three Moscow airports with protocols adapted to each terminal's character.

01

Sheremetyevo (SVO) — Terminal D and Private Aviation

Sheremetyevo is Moscow's largest international airport, 29 km north of the city centre. Terminal D handles long-haul international arrivals including the majority of business class traffic from Europe, North America, and the Gulf. Private aviation clients use the separate Business Aviation Terminal adjacent to the main terminal complex — a dedicated facility with its own lounge, customs processing, and tarmac access.

FFGR positioning at SVO: our vehicle is placed at the permitted drop-off/pick-up zone on the lower arrivals deck, not in the car park structure. We use real-time flight tracking and ADS-B data to confirm wheels-down, then move to active position. For private aviation arrivals, our driver and protocol officer are on the tarmac before the aircraft door opens.

02

Domodedovo (DME) — Corporate and Charter Hub

Domodedovo, 42 km south-east of central Moscow, is the primary hub for domestic connections, Central Asian routes, and a significant share of corporate charter traffic. Its single terminal structure is efficient: the international and domestic arrivals halls are adjacent, and baggage delivery is generally faster than SVO.

The road south from DME — the A105 transitioning to the Kashirskoye Shosse — is the key variable. Off-peak (before 0730 and after 2000), the 42 km to the Garden Ring takes 35 to 45 minutes. At peak hours, budget 75 to 90 minutes. Our DME briefings always include a road situation report given the day before, with real-time updates on the morning of travel.

03

Vnukovo (VKO) — Premier Private Aviation FBO

Vnukovo, 28 km south-west of central Moscow, is the preferred airport for private aviation arrivals in Moscow. Jet Aviation and Avicom operate the primary FBOs here, and the facility has historically been associated with government and UHNW private aviation. The private aviation terminal building is separate from the commercial terminal, with direct tarmac access for vehicles cleared by the FBO.

FFGR Russia has established operational protocols at both Jet Aviation and Avicom. For clients arriving by private jet at VKO, our vehicle is on the tarmac before wheels-down — not parked outside the gate. The transition from aircraft steps to vehicle takes under 4 minutes. Armored vehicles can be pre-cleared for tarmac access with 48 hours notice.

Distance and Time Comparison — The Practical Matrix

City centre to airport, off-peak: SVO (29 km, 30–40 min), DME (42 km, 35–45 min), VKO (28 km, 28–38 min). City centre to airport, peak hours: SVO (29 km, 55–75 min via MKAD), DME (42 km, 75–90 min via Kashirskoye Shosse), VKO (28 km, 50–65 min via Kievskoe Shosse).

The practical implication: for Sheremetyevo, the Third Ring to the MKAD to the Leningradsky Highway is the fastest route, but it is also the most affected by morning and evening peak traffic. We always plan departure times with a 20-minute buffer, and we communicate road conditions to the client from 60 minutes before departure.

05

Business Class Arrival Protocol — The First 10 Minutes

Business class arrivals at Moscow airports have one structural advantage over economy: dedicated immigration lanes at SVO Terminal D and at DME international. The lane matters — it reduces clearance from 25–40 minutes to 8–15 minutes on a standard day. When FFGR receives the flight details, we calculate the expected gate exit time based on the specific terminal, the immigration configuration that day, and historical data for the route.

Our drivers do not wait at the gate holding a name board in the arrivals hall. We are outside the arrivals exit, vehicle running, in the vehicle holding position. When the client texts or calls on exit, we are moving within 45 seconds. This is not a detail — it is the difference between a transfer that feels effortless and one that feels like a service.

06

Booking — Same-Day and Advance Reservations

Airport transfers are confirmed via WhatsApp within 15 minutes of request during business hours, and within 30 minutes overnight. We require: flight number, arrival terminal, destination address, and any specific vehicle or protocol requirements. Same-day bookings are accepted when vehicle availability allows — we recommend a minimum of 4 hours notice for Moscow airport transfers.

For recurring corporate travel — executive visits, board members, delegation movements — we manage standing booking arrangements with pre-agreed protocols, vehicle allocations, and billing cycles. Contact our reservation team to discuss a corporate account.
